UW Health is at a pivotal juncture, poised to optimize workflows, healthcare technology, and partnerships. Over a decade ago, Epic served as the cornerstone of our healthcare technologies. At that time, customization was necessary to maximize the benefits of Health Link, but this approach has become less desirable, contributing to unwarranted variation across our system of care and requiring continuance of laborious and costly customizations.
Since then, Epic has evolved in functionality, workflow relevancy, and industry standards utilization. As the health-care industry considers automation (AI, CDS), data-informed operations, and increased costs (both fiscal and human centered), we must embrace a new approach. At this presentation you will hear more about our plans to transform Health Link to best meet the needs of our patients, clinical teams, and partners. We believe this is necessary to ensure the best possible solution and move forward with a system that enables the next generation of the electronic health record.
